The term “Norouz” means “The New Day”; that is the name of Persian New Year. In fact the first day of spring & the first day of year in Iranian calendar is called “Norooz”. Norooz shows the values of peace & unity between generations & within families.

Iranian people put seven elements on a table for this beautiful feast; each of them symbolizes an important part of life during a year. These elements are written in Persian language with “S” sound, which inspires people peaceful feelings. The elements are:

Siib : apple / Somaagh : sumac / Serke : vinegar / Senjed : sea-buckthorn / Siir : garlic / Sekke : coin / Samanu : a kind of sweet dish made by blossoms of wheat / Sabze : a bunch of green grass / & the red fish in a crystal cup.
